Fall of 2011
This year there are 13 students in the third grade. We are spending a great deal of Bible time going through the stories in the book of Genesis. It's amazing to see how we can learn so many wonderful stories of God's faithfulness to His children, even when His children disobey Him. Each day we spend time reviewing our addition and subtraction problems, and then move into our daily lessons, going into money, measurements, graphs and charts, and later on to multiplication. Each week the students are challenged in their Spelling to learn words we use every day. Spelling Bees are one of our favorites! We have those every 6 weeks. Our Reading program involves a practice workbook, along with a grammar workbook to help aid us as we read several selections in our reading books. Often we make time to do the special things with our stories from play-acting, writing our own stories, doing experiments, and reading additional books with the same theme for the week. Our mornings go by quickly when we also add in our daily D.O.L. lessons, an activity or activity page, and something to write in our journals. This year our theme for the school is on "The Lord's Prayer". We are learning how to say the prayer in sign language, along with a few other songs. We are keeping a prayer chart that we write down specific prayers and see how God answers them. It's amazing how often God so quickly answers! It's improtant for us to remember that we also need to thank God for answering our prayers as well. As the year continues each child is given opportunites to present devotions to the class. We are working hard and learning a great amount already. If ever you have any questions or concerns you may have, please feel free to contact me.
